About Me

Hi! My name is Elle. Welcome! For the few seconds or minutes you browse may you find something of interest, comfort, or strengthening.

We'll use bullet points for this overview because who doesn't love bullet points? They're short, concise, and slightly unconventional.

- My Savior and Lord Jesus Christ is my best friend, even when I'm not such a great one back. He's my faithful Lover even when I'm distracted. He's my merciful Father even when I'm rebellious. It is my ultimate desire to live under the umbrella of His perfect will, to grow to maturity in Him, fully shining forth Him to all who come into contact with me - to reach the point of full saturation with His life.

- However, growth whether spiritual or physical is a journey. This blog records that journey. That journey full of hard learned lessons and tender grace filled moments. Here are my musings in the face of things I don't understand. Here you may trace along with me the coming to grips with hardness and cruelty and sin. Here are the amazed reports of a speechless child as she watches her Father conquer the impossible. The goal is not to preach lessons, but to record the ones I'm learning through hard knocks and missing teeth and to learn through pondering the ones I know I need most desperately. The purpose of this blog is simply to share what I have learned/am learning in the hope that one sentence will help someone someday. It is not for debate or expounding high doctrine or to be a "how-to" guide. There are much better blogs for both of those topics. This is simply to be an oasis in the middle of daily life. I will tackle hard subjects we never talk about not from the perspective of being the top authority but from that of a child striving to come to grips with sin in a death filled world. There will be frustrated sighs along with glimpses of glory. But there will be hope.  I will always strive and pray that there be a spirit and message of hope.

- As before stated, I am a Christian and therefore my writings will be written from that perspective. That does not mean if you are not a Christian this blog isn't for you. It just means I write from that viewpoint and oftentimes address situations that a Christian striving to follow the Lord in their community faces. Which is pretty much everything since we are simply luminaries in a dark world. Yet I don't think of the world merely as dark. No, I like hope and cheer and sunshine and try to find it if I can.

-I am not an extremist.

- Words that describe me: sensitive, writer, loving, loyal to a fault, self-doubting yet spunky, determined, hopeful. My favorite color is the color of irises and royalty and water bottles. My favorite place is the most unlikely. And my age has never been guessed even face to face.

- My family is the best. They support me, encourage me, and love me through thick and thin. It was with their encouragement alone that this blog was started. They spur me on to settle for nothing less than excellence and become wholly one with God.

- 13 is the anonymous name of the friend that's stretched me, taught me, and grown me more than almost any other person in my life. Our friendship defies words - a strange mixture of happiness and tears, strengthening and challenging. The symbolism behind 13 perhaps defines our friendship best - seemingly destined for failure, a shouted dare to do the impossible, and a fight to prove everything considered "unconventional" and therefore wrong or  not worth exploring (like 13 being a bad number) wrong. This blog would not be without them. Through 13 and alongside them I've learned some of the roughest and most important lessons of my life. Although times shift and the waves drift, it is my sincerest prayer I never have to fight the most terrible battle without 13 for a fellow soldier.
